Maine tobacco help line expects surge of calls
By The Associated Press

AUGUSTA, Maine — With quitting smoking among the top annual New Year’s resolutions, Maine officials say they’re expecting a jump in the number of people seeking help to quit smoking.

The Maine Center for Tobacco Independence says New Year’s Day begins the busiest time of year for the state’s Tobacco HelpLine, which offers personal coaching and other services to help people quit.

The line, which can be reached at 1-800-207-1230, receives about 8,000 calls a year. Maine health officials say that makes it one of the top quit-smoking help lines in the country.

I quit smoking cigs - not for the obvious health benefits - but to help starve the state of tax dollars. Every dollar in taxes sent to Augusta goes to help prop up the Baldacci regime and his rich cronies.

Starve the beast!
