LAMOINE THEATER GROUP TO PRESENT

FALL PERFORMANCE

Lamoine Community Arts 2009 Fall offering will be “Theater Fare,” a mixed menu of drama and comedy. The evening will begin with Table Number Seven by Terrence Rattigan, a popular playwright of the 1950’s. Directed by Carol Korty, the play is the group’s first venture into staging a drama. Set in an English seaside hotel, it deals with the issues of loneliness and community. In contrast, Dorothy Parker’s Here We Are, directed by David Sanderson, is a wry portrait of two very nervous first-time newlyweds in their late thirties as they take a train to New York City to begin their honeymoon and their life together. The evening will conclude with The Still Alarm by Pulitzer-winning playwright George S. Kaufman. Directed by Dale Macurdy, the play is Kaufman’s comedic answer to traditional drawing room drama.

The plays will be performed in the Lamoine Grange Hall on Route 184, Lamoine Corner, at 7:00 Fri. and Sat., Nov. 6 and 7, with a matinee performance at 3:00 Sun., Nov. 8. Suggested donation is $12.00 for plays and refreshments. To reserve tickets or for more information, call 664-7969.

Lamoine Community Arts is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to promote the arts in Lamoine. This is their fourth year of presenting an evening of theater in the Fall. Other projects include Readers’ Theater presentations in the Spring, a summer Progressive Dinner and (new this year) a Community Coffeehouse.
