Country musicians to perform in Milo

MILO, Maine — The American Jamboree will sponsor a Maine Country Music Hall of Fame show from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 12, at the town hall.

“This is the first time this show has ever been put on north of Bangor,” organizer Ron Knowles of Milo said Wednesday.

Knowles said 13 members of the Maine Music Hall of Fame will perform with a backup band of regional musicians.

Admission is by donation and the proceeds will benefit Maine’s Country Music Hall of Fame Museum in Mechanic Falls.

Refreshments will be sold by the local American Legion Auxiliary.

Knowles has been sponsoring a jamboree once a month for 18 months to raise funds for organizations and schools. During that time, the admission to the jamborees has raised about $17,000. Of that amount, $5,700 has been set aside for the development of a veterans memorial in Milo.

Assisting Knowles with the memorial project and the jamborees are Donna-Jean DeWitt, Reginald Earley and Margaret Earley, all of the Milo region.

For information about the jamboree, call Knowles at 279-9700 or DeWitt at 717-0717.
